Courtroom Connect’s Menu of Video Services for Jury Research
Videography ServicesCourtroom Connect can manage all standard videography services for focus groups and mock trials. Professional videographers with cameras and microphones will capture high-quality digital audio/video recordings and deliver them to in the format of choice (such as MPEG1 on DVD-ROM or MPEG2 on DVD).
Encoding in Streamable Format
In order to stream video over the Internet, or store large volumes of video in a repository, video needs to be encoded in a “streaming friendly” format such as Windows Media. Courtroom Connect encodes video in streaming format in realtime where possible, but can also convert previously videotaped events into streamable format if needed. This service allows for events not streamed live to be added to a repository for online searching and viewing. Courtroom Connect can deliver an event in streamable format (such as Windows Media or MPEG4) on a CD-ROM and/or host in a repository to view on-demand.
Encoding of Presentation Material/Evidence
Courtroom Connect is able to capture and synchronize high-resolution snapshots of presentation material alongside video of the participants. This capability allows for the viewer to see simultaneous images of the participants and the same presentation material/evidence the participants are seeing on-site. Courtroom Connect uses this format to capture court proceedings, and it is excellent for capturing mock trials and other events where material is presented electronically by laptop or overhead projector. While Courtroom Connect can encode events in this format after the fact, in most situations the encoding of presentation material will need to occur on-site in realtime alongside the video encoding. For events with little presentation material, it is always possible to have the camera operator zoom in on the screen to capture the content as part of the video, but this does not allow for simultaneous viewing.
Live Streaming over the Internet
Courtroom Connect can stream live video (and evidence if applicable) of jury research events over the Internet to remote locations. An on-site encoder captures feeds from the video camera and microphones on-site and delivers them over the Internet to Courtroom Connect servers. Secure access to events is provided to approved parties, who log into Courtroom Connect servers via unique login codes. Remote viewers can watch the entire proceedings of an event at a 5-10 second delay and participate with parties on-site via chat, email, and telephone. Courtroom Connect will provide all required technical support for on-site videographers to use the streaming system. Courtroom Connect will make arrangements for Internet connectivity on-site if not otherwise arranged, and a streaming technician can be retained to stay on-site for the duration of the event if desired.
Web Repository Services
Courtroom Connect can provide online access to captured events via a web repository. Events can be loaded into the repository immediately after being streamed live, or whenever an event is later encoded into a streamable format if not streamed live. The web repository capability can be used to store an event for a few weeks, or a client may choose to work with Courtroom Connect to create a more comprehensive repository covering numerous events. Permissions for viewers are set on a per-event basis.
Transcription
CC can arrange for transcription of events, either after the fact or in realtime.
Sample Fees
Courtroom Connect works with a client to create a custom proposal for each jury research event or a template that provides consistent pricing for a series of events. Courtroom Connect has standard fees that go into a proposal, but the variations in event specifics do not allow for completely off-the-shelf pricing for individual events. Below is sample pricing for a common event scenario:
- Videographer to operate camera and manage audio/video capture: $800-1,000/day
- Live video and evidence streaming of proceedings for five remote viewers, including equipment and support: $1,750/day
- Courtroom Connect technician to manage encoding/streaming equipment on-site: $900/day plus travel
- Video and evidence of proceedings available in repository for 30 days: $500
- Optional editing in post production: $65/hr
