COURTROOM CONNECT EXPANDS ITS OFFERINGS TO INCLUDE OFFICE-CONNECT™: SECURE HIGH-SPEED WIRELESS NETWORKS FOR LAW FIRMS

JUNE 15, 2004 (New York, NY) — Courtroom Connect has leveraged its expertise as the leading high-speed wireless Internet service provider in courthouses across the country to provide a unique opportunity for law firms to increase efficiencies in the office.

With the introduction of Office-ConnectTM, Courtroom Connect adds a secure, Wi-Fi wireless extension to a firm’s local area network, allowing law firm staff and authorized visitors to do everything they do online in their offices from anywhere within the law firm facility. The network can be used to provide secure access to a law firm network for members of the firm and secure access to the Internet for visitors to the law office. Access for firm employees allows for mobile connectivity in war rooms, conferences, meetings, filing rooms, etc. Users can send and receive emails, participate in CLE, access office files, conduct web research, access court information, and even retrieve documents from online repositories with ease. Visiting counsel or experts can be provided access during depositions, CLE, presentations, settlement conferences, etc.

Although the design of the network incorporates the latest Wi-Fi technology, the current design will support additional growth and functionality including remote access, network monitoring and detailed usage information without the purchase of additional equipment thus fulfilling the goal of scalability and "future-proofing" a firm’s investment.

The law firm of Coblentz, Patch, Duffy and Bass, LLP (CPDB), a recent Office-Connect client, realized that having a wireless network for staff and visitors made strategic sense. The wireless network installed at CPDB leverages the latest technology to provide both secure public Internet access and corporate access for employees. To achieve these goals and to maintain CPDB’s high security standards, the wireless network was built in parallel to the corporate infrastructure, effectively isolating the traffic both physically and logically from the internal CPDB network while still providing seamless access for authorized users and visitors. To further enhance security, all wireless traffic is protected with government-level encryption and all wireless users are authenticated using the ratified WPA standard. Access to the corporate resources (printers, files or Intranet applications) can be granted or denied based on identity and individuals can be further authorized based on their location, identity or the type of resource requested.

Jonathan Bass, a senior litigation partner at CPDB, added, "I wouldn't go to trial without Courtroom Connect, and now I don't have to go to the office without it either. In terms of gaining access to my office network, a laptop computer in a conference room is the same as the desktop in my office. New technological conveniences often come with some sort of burden or learning curve. This one doesn't."

Michael Breyer, CEO of Courtroom Connect, stated, "Law firms are realizing that we can leverage our leading edge services in courthouses throughout the country to provide the same levels of connectivity, support and service within their own facilities. Ultimately, this technology saves attorneys and their clients valuable time and money.”
