Courtroom Connect to Provide High-Speed Wireless Internet Access at Middlesex County, NJ Superior Court

(New Brunswick, New Jersey) April 19, 2004
- Courtroom Connect, the leading provider of high-speed Internet access, printing, and remote real-time transcripts to attorneys at court, announced today that they have a high-speed wireless Internet network at the Middlesex County Superior Court located at 1 John F. Kennedy Square in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The wireless service allows lawyers in trial to conduct online research, access and transfer large office files, send and receive email with attachments, access trial databases and print documents from their laptops—all from virtually anywhere in the courthouse. In addition to trial proceedings, the service can be utilized for hearings and conferences.

Courtroom Connect’s temporary Trial-Connect™ service was initially used in the Court for Mass Tort PPA (phenylpropanolamine) litigation being tried in the facility. Since the litigation is ongoing and the service proved valuable to the parties involved, the Mass Tort attorneys have requested the service for the duration of the proceedings. Client reviews of the service have been very positive.

Rodney Villazor, attorney at Kaye Sholer offered, "We utilized Courtroom Connect during a recent trial at Middlesex Superior Court. We found the service to be invaluable. I was able to instantly communicate via email with colleagues back at the office on happenings during trial, request documentation and advice and conduct online research. I also loved the ease and usefulness of printing in the courtroom-- directly from my laptop at the counsel table. Courtroom Connect's staff was also ready and willing to meet our every need. We would certainly utilize them again as we found their services to be indispensable to our trial team."

John Shin, Senior Vice President of Sales, Courtroom Connect had this to say, "We are very pleased to be working with the Mass Tort lawyers at Middlesex County Superior Court. In addition to providing the same high-quality Internet services we are already providing in courts throughout the country, including email, instant messaging, legal research and printing, we have also added new cutting edge services, such as audio and video feeds, and a brand new service that captures video and evidence presentation simultaneously. The end result is that we are creating a complete virtual courtroom experience for the trial teams who litigate in this courthouse.”

In addition to a rapidly expanding list of over 20 courthouses throughout the country, Courtroom Connect provides a variety of other services to the legal community. For example, Courtroom Connect offers a temporary-anywhere service called Trial-Connect™, which enables trial teams to order Wi-Fi Internet services for individual trials at courthouses anywhere in the United States. Courtroom Connect also provides Wi-Fi services to law firms and bar associations, as well as multi-media audio/video services for live capture and streaming of presentations, meetings, depositions and other events that warrant a securely integrated communication solution.
