High-Speed Wireless Internet Access at
Dallas County George Allen Sr. Civil District Courts Building

(Dallas, TX) January 26, 2006 - Courtroom Connect, the leading national provider of advanced communication services for litigation proceedings and courthouses, announced the installation of a permanent, secure, high-speed wireless Internet network throughout the Civil District Courts of Texas, Dallas County, at the George L. Allen, Sr., Courts Building. The provided network and the wireless service will be available in all courtrooms and public areas allowing attorneys, jurors, court reporters, media, law interns and members of the public to access a high-speed Internet connection for a nominal fee.

Attorneys utilizing Courtroom Connect’s services in other jurisdictions have been enthusiastic. They immediately recognized the opportunity to be more productive and effective in court using tools to which they are already accustomed in the office. Examples of how the network can be utilized for hearings and trials include conducting research, retrieving and transferring large office files, sending and receiving email and access to trial databases from their wirelessly-enabled laptops.

In addition, the network serves as a robust platform for trial teams to utilize Courtroom Connect’s enhanced services such as remote real-time transcript streaming; videoconferencing; video, audio and evidence streaming; and wireless printing for trials and other proceedings. Official court reporters can also receive high-speed Internet in their office and in courtrooms, allowing them to communicate with scopists for better efficiency, send email, and deliver remote real time transcripts to authorized users.

Dallas County, in its continued efforts to be on the forefront of technology, is the first location in Texas to adopt Courtroom Connect’s wireless Internet technology platform for its constituents and joins over 40 other courts nationwide. The anticipated launch date for the service is March of 2006.

According to Dan Savage, Assistant Administrator for Operations for Dallas County, “Dallas County opted to install the Courtroom Connect product in its George Allen Civil Courts Building as part of a project that includes a 200,000 square foot expansion, plus renovation of much of the existing 350,000 square foot building. The Courtroom Connect services will cover the entire complex with wireless connectivity at no cost to Dallas County. Users will be able to access the internet from the County Civil Courts on a fee for service basis. This approach minimizes the impact on the County's internal network and will provide a win-win solution for Dallas County and the many anticipated users of the Courtroom Connect product. It represents another step forward in providing 21st century services in our Civil Courts in Dallas County.”

"Dallas will be the first county in Texas whose courthouse facilities will provide this kind of accessibility and efficiency to the legal community,” said Sumit Chatterjee, General Manager of Courtroom Connect. “We are confident that attorneys, court reporters and jurors will find the service as helpful as those constituents utilizing similar services at our other courthouse locations across the country. We applaud the Dallas County courts for taking the lead in adopting new technologies to further the efficacy of the high tech courtroom in Texas.”
